This dish is locally known to the Filipinos as “Tinolang Manok” (manok is the Filipino word for chicken). This is an inexpensive but a very nutritious dish. This recipe calls for papaya but if you don’t have papaya you can use chokos and you can also add spinach or chilli leaves, but if not available you can use baby bok choy. This dish is a comfort food for those people who live far from home, especially during the chilly winter months.
